Berna Jean Meyer likes to be called Jean, or Mom, or Sister Jean and lives in Harpers Ferry, WV, with her husband, Andy, and whichever of their five children happens to be around. Having come to an Anabaptist expression of faith after many years in non-denominational evangelical churches, she and her family are members at Yarrowsburg Mennonite Church. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading, studying languages, and teaching high school at Horizon Mennonite School in Hagerstown, MD. One of the best things about teaching high school is a captive chorus to try out new compositional concepts. Jean delights in sharing music with children and young people. Many years ago as a young person, Jean studied flute and piano, eventually earning a bachelor's degree in music therapy from Montclair State University. Music therapy enabled Jean to share the healing power of music in psychiatric hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. Since coming to Christ, her biggest passion in life is applying the healing power of the gospel to life – not just to the head, but also to the heart – through relationships, teaching, counseling, and making music.
