Marcus Klassen is a musician living and working in Exeter, Ontario. He completed his Bachelor of Music degrees in voice and piano performance at the University of South Dakota, and studied organ with Chris Larson through the American Guild of Organists. He currently works as a teacher and organ/ piano accompanist. His original plan was to do a degree in composition, but he ended up studying it privately with Wendell Glick for four years instead. Writing music has always been a passion of his, but more of the songs stay stuck in his head than get down on paper. Having grown up immersed in choral music, that genre has always been of primary interest, but recently he has taken more of an interest in orchestral writing. Cantate Domino is a welcome reminder to him that he has the opportunity to keep growing and creating new works.
